Hi, I’m Jae. I made Aboutweb.cx.

I’ve spent my career in Los Angeles working with startups, big and small. Along the way I’ve raised over $50 million across various startups and had two exits, and now I’m building my third startup, Fredrin.

I’m a startup guy. A big part of building my own startup is researching other companies — who they are, how much traffic they get, how much they’ve raised, and who backed them.

I got tired of googling the company behind every website I visited, and switching tabs back and forth just to find out.

So I built a Chrome extension. Open it on any site and it shows you the company behind it: site traffic, how much money they’ve raised, and their investors — right where you already are.

How Aboutweb.cx came to be

This isn’t the first time I’ve built this. Before Aboutweb.cx, I launched a Chrome extension called GetHoneybadger that did something very similar to what Aboutweb.cx does today.

It took off. GetHoneybadger was wildly successful, and thousands of people installed it and used it every day.

But I couldn’t keep it going. The API costs behind it were more than I could sustain at the time, and I was also busy building another fast-growing startup. Something had to give, and it was GetHoneybadger.

Things are different now. With the advent of AI, I finally have room to build multiple startups and still enjoy life. That’s why Aboutweb.cx exists: it’s the idea I never stopped wanting, rebuilt the way I always wished I could.

I built it for myself first. If you research companies too, I hope it saves you a few tabs.
